2019
From the same terroir as the Premier Cru Classé, Lieutenant de Sigalas is a Sauternes meant to be enjoyed sooner, offering freshness with aromas of flowers and white-fleshed fruits. A perfect Lieutenant—honest and straightforward. Ideal as an aperitif or paired with poultry, cheese, and fruit-based desserts.
Afer the moderate temperatures of August that helped our vines ro retain the grapes freshness, a hot and dry September complicates the apparition of the Botrytis. The wetter weather in mid-september allows us to start the harvest nevertheless. 2019 was a challenging vintage : we had to work quickly while at the same time picking the grapes with great precision.

Tasting
This pale gold-dressed Lieutenant displays a beautiful freshness, revealing the orchard fruit aromas typical of Sigalas, accompanied by a flint-like minerality. The nose is particularly fresh, with delicate notes of peach and white-fleshed fruits. The mouth follows in the footsteps of the nose—sleek and taut—unfolding a lovely touch of candied lemon. It captivates with its vibrancy, where peach and candied citrus express themselves fully. This is a well-balanced and harmonious Lieutenant, boasting a beautiful length on the palate and a refreshing finish.
